can you put a switch hub on a prolink hurricane 9200 modem?
i want both of my computers at home to have internet connection. does my modem can do it by just putting an 8 port switch hub? they say this model is a built-in router?? is that true? i read its specifications and it says there that it supports functions such as DHCP Server but i don’t know what that means. and how will i set it up so that both will have internet connection? how will i configure them?

If the modem is in fact a modem / router you are in luck. Since it claims to support Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) it sure seems like it is a router / modem combination.
I presume this is not a modem / router / switch and you have one Ethernet LAN port. If you have more than 1 ethernet LAN port, you actually have a modem / router / switch.
If you have a modem / router / switch as a single unit, all you need are 2 straight CAT5 cables. Plug one end of one into a LAN port of the modem / router / switch and the other end into one pc’s network port. Repeat this with the second CAT5 cable going into another LAN port and the other pc network port. Set up both pcs to obtain IP address automatically and you are in business.
If you have a modem / router – with only 1 LAN port, buy a small 10/100 network switch (4 port is large enough) and also buy 3 cat5 cables. One cable goes to 1 switch port and to the router / modem LAN port. The other 2 cables link each pc network port to a switch port. Set up both pcs to obtain IP address automatically and you are in business.
